Te Mata Estate in the UK: A Tradition of New Zealand Wine

For generations, the United Kingdom has been one of the most important homes for Te Mata Estate outside New Zealand. As New Zealand’s oldest winery, now celebrating more than 130 years of continuous winemaking, we are proud that our wines continue to be enjoyed by wine lovers across Britain, whether they are discovering Hawke’s Bay for the first time or reconnecting with a taste of home. For many New Zealanders living, working or travelling in the UK, finding a bottle of Te Mata has become a small but meaningful reminder of where they come from.

Today, Te Mata wines are available through many of Britain’s most respected wine merchants, including Fortnum & Mason, Harrods and Berry Bros. & Rudd, reflecting a long-standing reputation for quality and consistency. Across London, our wines are also finding new audiences through carefully chosen restaurant and hotel wine lists that celebrate premium New Zealand wine alongside the world’s classic regions.

Estate Sauvignon Blanc is now available by the glass at both The Ritz London and The Dorchester, while a wider range of Te Mata wines can be enjoyed at Trailer Happiness in Notting Hill, SushiSamba City in the heart of London’s financial district, and through new listings at the historic Royal Automobile Club on Pall Mall. These partnerships reflect the versatility of Te Mata wines, equally at home in grand dining rooms, contemporary restaurants and iconic London institutions.

Whether you’re visiting London, celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to enjoy a taste of Hawke’s Bay while abroad, Te Mata Estate wines are never far away. We are grateful to our UK partners for helping share the story of Te Mata with new audiences while continuing a relationship between New Zealand and Britain that has flourished for generations.
