    Each vintage is a celebration of time and our terroir. Each one is distinct, each one is shaped by the land, people, and nature. In 2024, we had time to find poise. It was an remarkable harvest, producing beautifully balanced wines with elegance, power and restraint. Deeply thought-provoking wines.

  • 2023 Pushing New Frontiers

    2023 will be a lesson in “never count your chickens before they’re hatched.” It was a season that took Te Mata to new frontiers, and one we can’t wait to share with you. An extreme year setting new records on multiple fronts, 2023 was the: longest growing season ever (budburst to harvest +10% longer than LTA) and the lowest yielding (-30% on LTA).

  • 2022 Experience Reaped Rewards

    A memorable, incredibly early vintage, with significant highlights and some challenging moments. It resulted in wines with great varietal expression, restraint, tension, power, and length. Winter – Spring Winter was warm and dry. This led to an early bud burst and the earliest veraison in the last 30 years.

  • 2021 The One

    A historically early and dry vintage that produced low crops with tiny berries, creating exceptional wines with fragrance, tension, purity, power, and persistence… the tricky part will be having the patience to enjoy them at their peak!

  • 2020 A Perfect Vision

    2020 was simply perfect. With low rainfall and fabulous weather 2020 will go down in the history books as one of the best on record. In fact, according to Te Mata Estate CEO Nick Buck – this is the best in Te Mata’s history.

  • 2019 Early. Easy & Exciting

    2019 was a warm, dry, easy grape-growing season that has produced some of our most exciting results yet. We’re excited to get these out. Time will tell, but this could be one of our best.
