Frequently Asked Questions

Bookings are essential for the Showcase Tasting and Heritage Experience. We highly recommend booking for the Discover Tasting and Winery Tour, however we can take walk-ins on the day if we are not fully-booked. Please note our last Discovery Tasting begins at 4.00pm Monday-Saturday and 3.00pm Sunday.

To ensure the best experience for our guests in the various spaces they are held, our Discovery Tasting, Winery Tour and Heritage Experience are limited to 8 people per booking and the Showcase Tasting to a maximum of 16 people. We do not take larger groups.

Te Mata’s Cellar Door is wheelchair accessible. Our other Visitor Experiences traverse rough ground or stairs.

Some of our Experiences take you through our working vineyards and winery, so there are times of year, such as harvest, when these spaces are very busy with traffic and machinery and are not safe for visitors.

We waive the Discovery Tasting fee ($25 per person) with a 2-bottle purchase per person. Other Visitor Experience guests receive a discount for wines purchased on the day.

We don’t have a restaurant or commercial kitchen on site, so we are not able to serve prepared food. We do, however, have a range of snacks which can be purchased to accompany the Discovery Tasting. No additional food can be brought in to consume on site.

We operate under an ‘off-licence’, so we provide wine tastings and sales of bottles for carry out only. We are not licensed to offer wine by the glass.

Children are welcome to visit with you, but must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.

For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, we are not able to accommodate dogs on site, with the exception of registered guide dogs.

Please contact [email protected] for Tour Operator or Travel Agency bookings.

Please call 06 8774399 or email [email protected] to let us know as soon as possible if you’ll be late and we will do our best to accommodate. However if we are fully booked, we won’t be able to extend your tasting past the start of the next reservation.

Reservations can be cancelled and refunded online for:
Discovery Tastings up to 4 hours before the tasting starts;
Showcase Tastings and Heritage Experiences up to 24 hours before they are due to start.
