With sauvignon blanc grapes of such quality, minimal winemaking means the finer aromatics and flavours are preserved. At the winery, the grapes were simply chilled, gently pressed and the juice cold-settled before cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

Estate Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc ’12 has a pale straw colour with green lights. Lovely aromas of lemongrass and coriander lend an exotic note to lime, passionfruit and blackcurrant leaf characters. The palate is crisp and mouth-filling, with fresh acidity providing a fine structure to a long, dry, mineral finish.

The grapes for Estate Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc ’12 were harvested from our Bridge Pa Triangle, Woodthorpe Terraces and Havelock Hills vineyards between 25 March and 23 April 2012.

All Te Mata Estate wines are grown in the same vineyards, made by the same people, and are all bottled onsite at the winery established in 1896. Estate wines are varietally-driven, representing the finest expression of Te Mata’s Hawke’s Bay vineyard sites.
