Winemaking
1984 Elston Chardonnay is the first Chardonnay made by us from a selected site planted to our requirements, and is named after the family home in England of John Edwards, who together with his wife Lynley owns the vineyard.
Vineyards
The wine is made from a small crop of very ripe grapes.
Origin
Elston is named for Elston Hall in Nottinghamshire, the ancestral home of Charles Darwin’s family. Darwin’s ‘theory of natural selection’ forms the basis of modern evolutionary theory, the foundation of biology. The wyvern symbol of Elston Hall appears on the label.
