Tasting Notes 1998
1998 Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc has a pale straw colour, and aroma and flavour of pear, honeysuckle and toast, and a lively, dry finish of great length.
1998 Cape Crest will develop in bottle for 2-4 years from harvest.
It is an ideal partner to seafood, white meats, quiche and the like.

Total acidity as tartaric: 7g/l
Alcohol: 13%

Winemaking
The grapes were destemmed, crushed, chilled and drained, then fermentation in 225 litre oak casks, most of which were second and third use barrels.
The wine was finally blended and bottled in late spring.
Vineyards
The grapes were hand harvested on the 18th and 27th March.
Origin
Cape Crest and its gannet symbol refer to Cape Kidnappers, the southern point of Hawkes Bay, home to the world’s largest mainland colony of these remarkable marine birds.
