Winemaking

Cape Crest '91

Cape Crest is small vineyard of 3.5 acres just inland from Te Awanga on the Hawkes Bay coast in the direction of Cape Kidnappers.

It is one hundred per cent sauvignon blanc, hand harvested, whole cluster pressed then fermented; two thirds in tank and one-third in a mixture of new and old oak. The wine is then blended and further aged until bottling in early October.

Vineyards

Te Awanga

Cape Crest and its gannet symbol refer to Cape Kidnappers, the southern point of Hawke Bay, home to the world’s largest mainland colony of these remarkable marine birds.
