Bright burgundy with a purple edge, Estate Vineyards Pinot Noir ’19 has an immediate aroma of ripe strawberry, raspberry, lavender and nutmeg. Hints of vanilla and smoke float across a palate that’s dominated by soft red fruit and silky fine tannins. A recent addition to the Te Mata family, this is a beguiling wine. WINEMAKING The individual lots were each destemmed and given a traditional warm-plunged fermentation. The resulting wines underwent extended maceration on skins before pressing. The separate wines were then run to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barriques for 11 months’ maturation.
VINEYARDS Estate Vineyards Pinot Noir ’19 was harvested between 7 and 25 March 2019 from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards in Woodthorpe Terraces.
