TASTING NOTES 2002
The best Bullnose yet, as it has the spicy aromatics and powerful palate that only results from ten years or more of vine age combined with an excellent vintage.
Bullnose Syrah 2002 has a concentrated dark ruby colour. It displays a rich plum sauce aroma with hints of blackcurrant and anise. It has a powerful palate showing chocolate and prune flavours with ripe velvety tannins. Bullnose Syrah 2002 is a wine of great potential and will develop in bottle for 4 – 8 years from harvest.
Bullnose Syrah 2002 is best with full flavoured meat dishes such as game or barbequed lamb.

WINEMAKING
The bunches were destemmed and crushed before a traditional warm plunged fermentation. The resulting wines underwent extended maceration on skins before pressing and malolatic fermentation. They were then run into a mixture of 35% new and 65 % seasoned French oak barriques for 16 months’ maturation. During this time they were topped, racked and blended. The final wine was egg-white fined and bottled in October 2003.
VINEYARDS
The hand-picked grapes were hand harvested on the 16th and 30th April 2002.
ORIGIN
Michael Morris and Peter Cowley, vineyard partners and old car enthusiasts, named this wine after the pre-1928 Morris Cowley car, nicknamed Bullnose due to its distinctive radiator. The bull emblem of the label is drawn from the Bullnose car’s radiator crest.
