WINEMAKER
Born and bred in Hawkes Bay, Phil is our leading winemaker. Not content with one degree Phil has two, a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Wine Science.
Phil joined Te Mata Estate in 1992 and become the Te Mata Estate winemaker from 2003. During these years Phil has worked in France and travelled extensively on winemaking excursions throughout Europe, South Africa and Australia. Phil is also a Senior Wine Judge.
Phil lives in sunny Westshore with his wife Leanne, and their two children Benjamin and Hannah. Phil claims to be interested in winemaking, winetasting, wine cellaring and wine related travel…we call him focused.
