VITICULTURIST

A horticultural sciences graduate of Massey University, Larry Morgan has had a distinguished academic and research career in the wine industry since 1988. As a specialist viticulturist, his early career was spent as a government Viticultural Advisor, assisting Dr. Richard Smart in pioneering the new techniques now used in quality vineyards throughout the world.  Larry became Te Mata Estate’s Group Viticulturist in 1994 and has played a significant role in the creation of many of New Zealand’s greatest wines. Larry’s pursuit of excellence has given rise to many initiatives that continue to enhance the quality of Te Mata Estate wines. He has also served on a number of industry bodies, particularly those dealing with environmental concerns, as well as having an ongoing role in further education relating to viticulture.

Larry is also a significant shareholder in Te Mata Estate's Isosceles vineyard and is “a true outdoorsman”. Larry lives in Hawke’s Bay with his wife Cindy.
